CCUS SET-Plan

Combatting climate change  is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Europe is taking a leading role and aims at an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Europe’s energy and industrial sectors can contribute to this goal by adopting low-carbon technologies at large scale.

This is the goal of the European Strategic Energy Plan (SET-Plan) that brings together the European Commission, national authorities as well as industrial, societal and research stakeholders in a coordinated effort towards climate neutral energy systems. Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) represents a wide range of technologies and is recognised by the SET-Plan as an essential solution towards this goal.

About SET-Plan

The European SET Plan highlights the areas where the EU needs to strengthen cooperation with the countries and stakeholders to bring low-carbon technologies to the market faster and in a cost-competitive way.

About CCUS

CCUS stands for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage. It derives from merging the terms Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU).

About IMPACTS9

IMPACTS9 will support delivery of the R&I activities outlined in the Implementation Plan for CCUS through the provision of coordination and support to the key public and private stakeholders that are well placed to progress the SET-Plan Implementation Plan actions in the near term.
